"A lot of people have tried to kill me... And I'm still here."

"When I was a child, I had nightmares of a kuruzi, a creature with long hair and sharp claws. I would run to my father asking him to protect me. My father was angry, he told me to go back to bed and face my fears. But my grandfather understood. He told me the kuruzi was his friend, how he met him at the bottom of a well."

James "Jimmy" Howlett was born in 1832 in northwestern Canada to stepfather, John, and mother, Elizabeth (it later transpires that James' real father was Thomas Logan, his stepfather's employee). A sickly child from the start, James' abilities didn't manifest until the age of thirteen (which is typical in almost all except the most extreme of mutations), after a prolonged battle with illness and the traumatic death of his stepfather.
